Gphoto2 Shutter Count
When I type gphoto2 -list-ports, all I get is 2 Universal Serial Bus'. I've plugged my camera into the usb port on the pi and when I try 'gphoto2 -auto-detect' all I get is two titles, model and port. Any suggestion on making my camera visible?
FINALLY I've done it. I reinstalled raspbian and the ran through the instruction on building from source.

After this i still got the error. But by renaming the following files I was able to capture photos and it is working using subprocess' through Python.

The above instructions must be terribly dated. This is due to the fact that they are years old and attempts to use them just crater. These instructions should be removed.

By the way: It is a pity that there is zero GOOD documentation on the proper methodology and dependencies in order to successfully install gphoto2 and libgphoto2. Your project is only as good as its communications.
In this case FAIL would be a reasonable grade to assign to a poorly documented or undocumented project. Y'all keep whooping it up and patting yourselves on the back for something that is of no value to someone who is attempting a photographic project. Buy Now. SOTA right now is fswebcam since gphoto2 and libgphoto2 have a malfunction in the junction of its documentation. If someone who actually knows something would provide a good (emphasis on good) documentation for the configure and make of the two products as well as ALL of their dependencies, it would be a great contribution to the furtherance of the project. Right now it is not of any value. WHERE ARE THE EXPERTS WHO CAN ACTUALLY PROVIDE A GOOD ANSWER????? If you want up-to-date instructions, start a new thread, calling it something like 'Installing gphoto2 in 2017' would work. Please let me remind you that the answers given are not from the RPI, but from volunteering contributors.
