Henry's Midtown Tavern is the 8th of 8 stops as part of 'Eat the Peachtree 2015 - Electric Boogaloo!' - this is the return of the world's largest world's largest 10K-themed pub crawl. 10 8 clicks, 10 8 stops, 10 8 dishes, 10 8 drinks. 1 epic afternoon. This used to be the location of Jock's and Jill's back in the day. The bar is extensive and well maintained with great outdoor seating.

As the last location on our ETP Itinerary, we sat and enjoyed the air conditioning and watched the opening of the Women's World Cup on several of the many flat panel TVs littered throughout the space. The crowd here was very enthusiastic and enthralled by what was happening on screen. The interior is quite a bit nicer than the exterior with higher end finishes and more upscale furnishings, atypical of a pub. The menu is fairly extensive with many pub-food style options.

After looking things over and deciding to skip the hotdogs, we settled on some apps. We also enjoyed a few cocktails, of course. For apps we did the parmesian fries and the chili fries. While these were OK, they weren't anything special, pretty much typical bar food. The service was good but the waiter seemed a bit distracted. Still not a bad experience, but with all the good restaurants we visited today this last was the most lackluster.

As the final stop, we entertained the idea of heading over to Takorea, but then decided to call it a day. It was about 7:30 PM or so when we completed ETP 2015! We walked from restaurant to restaurant in search of the best flavors and drinking venues in Atlanta, while enjoying the same sights as you would while running the Peachtree Road Race. You can find Tamarind Seed Thai Bistro at 1197 Peachtree St NE, Atlanta, GA 30361 on the left driving towards Midtown in front of Colony Square Mall. This is a fantastic location that's usually quite busy - lucky for us it's a Sunday! The Tuk Tuk (auto-rickshaw in India) is something to see and (as you can see in a bit) a way to remember dining at Tamarind Seed. The interior is quite nice and more upscale than you would think from looking at the place from the outside. Plenty of open seating and the large windows allow for lots of natural light.

There are multiple menus for food, drink, specials. Most of the items will seem very similar to you if you have dined at other Thai restaurants. For food and drink: The Crispy Whole Snapper in Basil Sauce looked delicious but perhaps a bit heavy to our on-foot-traveling crew. Thai Singha Lager Beer was imbibed by most, with a few cocktails thrown in for good measure. The Nam Sod was delicious - very fresh and tasty.

We all enjoyed the spring rolls, basil rolls and chicken satay. I think I ate most of the pickled cukes that came with the Satay. And for good measure, a few of us posed for photos in the Tuk Tuk!

The service here was top notch and the food very good. I think you'll enjoy Tamarind Seed. (longer review posted to my food blog). You can find Exxon Uptown Station at 1521 Peachtree Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30309 in Brookwood on the left driving towards Midtown. It's in the same gas station which ended up being a default during ETP 2014 last year (LPC was closed when we came by). So to honor that event we included it this year. The interior is surprisingly spacious and the guy behind the counter quite kind and accommodating - we must not be the first drunks he's had wander in from the street. Of course the food and drink selection is what matters.and we did outdo ourselves with Cheetos Flamin' Hot Limon, Cheddar Beer Chips and a six of Lite Ponys. We enjoyed our victuals out in the sun in a park-like setting. Final stop, Henry's!

(also posted to my food blog with photos!) Read more. Saltyard is located towards the Southern end of Buckhead before getting to Peachtree Corners traveling South. It's also next door to another amazing restaurant, Watershed in the same low-rise brick building. I've eaten at Saltyard many times - this is one of my favorite Atlanta restaurants and local concepts - I also take visiting friends and family here for the consistency and approachability - the food here stops just shy of the ubiquitous and usually obnixious food-as-art them and builds into something new and refreshing. Chef Nick Leahy takes the farm-to-table concept to new heights with conviction and a great understanding - that if you start with amazing ingredients you can end up with amazing food, no matter how complex the recipe or technique used in preparation.

Besides sourcing great products, Saltyard 'goes to 11' with brilliant presentation, delicious sauces and a downright special setting. The food is served 'tapas' style with smaller portions on small plates or skillets so you can try a lot during a single sitting. I don't want to make this an overblown review so I'll stop right there and let the food speak for itself. The interior has tall ceilings and yet is somehow cozy, probably due to the lighting.

Tables in general are smallish but so are the plates so you should still have plenty of room. I often sit in the front area at the high-tables for convenience and a quick bite - larger groups are generally more comfortable in the back. The photos and food I've posted are a combination of several visits so if there's a bit of inconsistency, it's all my doing. The menu is divided up into a single front/back panel with three columns each - most of the items are relatively static in nature and easy to obtain, so it makes sense for these to be on a more permanent menu.

Play special attention to the vegetables - this is one of the few places in Atlanta where I feel more than comfortable and completely sated by ordering a bevy of veggies and sharing amongst the table. Anything oven-roasted is just plain delicious. The last thing I want to mention before continuing is regarding the bar itself - including the drink specials and local craft brews. Feel safe my friend that you are in good hands - the concoctions provided by the talented bartenders will get your head spinning and your taste buds a-twirl. Awesome stuff here folks - I usually hit the 3 Taverns or other local brews to start then maybe one of the awesome specialty cocktails or white bourbon mixed drinks. 3 Taverns 'Theophin the Recluse' Russian Imperial Stout (and if you like stouts, try the ice-cream if it's on the menu made from the same!) 3 Taverns 'A Night in Brussels' white IPA On with the food.

Deviled Farm Eggs with bacon and sriracha - must stop eating these but they are so good. Nice way to start things off.

Roasted Cauliflower with thyme, lemon, chili - you can do no harm with this dish. Flash Fried Brussel Sprouts with sweet chili - only brussel sprouts in Atlanta I've found worth eating.

Blistered Green Beans with bacon, ginger, cider reduction - delicious - the bacon with a balance of acid makes this dish Pappardelle pasta with prosciuitto cream and locally sourced mushrooms - filling and so satisfying Grilled Lamb Loin with tuscan whitebean puree, harissa Crispy Fish Tacos with chef's spicy jalapeno aiolo, cilantro lime slaw I've also had the ahi tuna tartare, pimento cheese and wild musthrooms which were all delicious but un-photographed. And for dessert. Sorghum Pecan Pie with bourbon ricotta ice cream S'More Bread Pudding with maple and banana ice cream Everything I've tried at Saltyard has been amazing and the service, both at the bar and in the dining room has been amazing. Parking is a bit weird - it's in the back decks - they offer valet but I usually just find a space on the second floor.

We walked from restaurant to restaurant in search of the best flavors and drinking venues in Atlanta, while enjoying the same sights as you would while running the Peachtree Road Race. The Original itinerary called for The Southern Gentleman - much to our chagrin and disappointment, The Southern Gentleman was closed when we arrived - it still had customers but we arrived 5 minutes after the hour - oops. While I would have liked to have shown a few apps, drinks and the revel we would have had there, instead we decided to substitute the local Thirteen Pies which is also in the same shopping complex, only on the ground floor.

You can find Thirteen Pies in that new Buckhead shopping complex, located at 250 Buckhead Avenue Northeast, Atlanta, GA 30305 - it's located on the ground floor on the left as you enter this new concept of Buckhead shopping. This is a really beautiful restaurant featuring natural wood finishes and parallel lines across an open dining room, open bar and open kitchen concept. What you see is what you get at every aspect, with stunning modernist views. Network hack software. On the left wall as you walk in you'll see an horizontal chalkboard with the daily specials.

The menu includes small plates, salads, pastas and of course the 13 signature pies (get it?). We downed a few glasses of local craft brew including the rotating Sweetwater tap - quite refreshing.

For food, the chop salad is one of the signature dishes, so we went there and ordered the Iberian pie - fennel sallami, smoked provolone, soffritto, castelvetrano olive (my favorite!), yellow tomato and old manchego - it was awesome and cut into 6 pieces, so one each! I really do love this place and plan to return, possibly for a date night. The service was awesome and the food quick to the table - for a substitute, this was a terrific selection - kudos to Verlin for suggesting this one!

We walked from restaurant to restaurant in search of the best flavors and drinking venues in Atlanta, while enjoying the same sights as you would while running the Peachtree Road Race. You'll find Red Pepper on the left as you turn South onto Piedmont Rd from Peachtree Rd along the first block. Alternatively it's on the right as you head North on Piedmont, between Martina Dr NE and Peachtree Rd. This fun restaurant has plenty of seating both inside and out and a large bar where you can sample several unusual drinks.

I tasted several while here - try the Prickly Pear margarita. The seating was pretty much filled up on the patio while inside it was about 25% full. We sat in the air conditioning which was very welcome after walking along this hot afternoon - the weather was nice with about 50% overcast and around 80 degrees. The menu is fairly extensive with several interesting items. The nachos here are noteworthy so we ordered those plus an order of chips and queso.

I liked the side of fresh-chopped jalapenos and did my best to eat them all. We tried several drinks as well has a nice wies beer. We enjoyed this place quite a bit. The service was terrific and the food well above average. Good times had by all! Next stop: The Southern Gentleman. (longer review posted on my food blog).

Locate all the posts along with an intro if you search my blog with ETP2015. We walked from restaurant to restaurant in search of the best flavors and drinking venues in Atlanta, while enjoying the same sights as you would while running the Peachtree Road Race.

You can find Yebo in Phipps Plaza along the front side of the mall across from Twist. This is a beautiful bar/restaurant with exotic South African influenced and modernist finishes. As a group, we assembled at Yebo after it opened its doors at 12:00 PM (this all all ETP 2015 events were held on Sunday, 2015.07.05, the day after the 4th of July celebration and 2015 Peachtree Road Race). The 'brunch law' prevented us from drinking booze until 12:30 PM.

Initially seven people congregated with one dropping out (seems he had a bit too much to celebrate the night before and opted to sleep it off). There was a Brunch Menu available that had some interesting items, of course we forewent and decided to order some of Yebo's signature dishes. For drinks we ordered a variety, including Bloody Marys, an awesome cucumber Zulu and a Sunday Funday Mule. We started the food off with a really fantastic bowl of air-popped popcorn covered in parmesian cheese - I'm definitely a convert on this. And then the signature ostrich sliders - these were fantastic.

And to round things out, this bowl of mussels. The food, drinks, ambiance and service were all top-notch!

A great way to kick off the crawl! (longer version with photos posted to my food blog).
